Daci Temple

Daci Temple is one of Chengdu's oldest Buddhist temples, nestled within the modern district of Taikoo Li. Founded during the Tang Dynasty, it flourished when Master Xuanzang once received precepts and preached here, earning it the title "the foremost monastic complex in Shendan." Over a thousand years of repeated destruction and reconstruction have left its red walls and black tiles in harmonious dialogue with the glass facades of neighboring Taikoo Li. The temple's scripture pavilion and Great Buddha Hall are solemn and majestic, while its courtyards are tranquil, shaded by ancient trees reaching toward the sky. Today, Daci Temple serves not only as a place for worship and meditation but also as an ideal window into Chengdu’s unique spirit of coexistence between tradition and modernity—step outside, and you're surrounded by Taikoo Li, IFS, and international fashion; step inside, and you hear the morning and evening temple bells, immersed in serene Zen contemplation.
