Huanglongxi Ancient Town

Huanglongxi Ancient Town is one of the best-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty water towns in western Sichuan, located about 40 kilometers from downtown Chengdu. The town is built along the Fu River and Lüxi River, with seven ancient streets stretching for a total of 1.2 kilometers. Ming and Qing dynasty architecture lines the streets, and the cobblestone paths bear the imprints of horse hooves dating back over a thousand years. Ancient banyan trees with intertwined roots dot the town, while streams flow through it—perfect for swimming in summer and soaking up the winter sun. Intangible cultural heritage performances such as Fire Dragon Dance and Fu River Boatmen's Chants have been passed down through generations. Street snacks like cold tofu, sesame cake, and Huangladin (a local fish dish) are the town’s three signature delicacies.
