Qingyang Palace

Qingyang Palace is the oldest and most magnificent Taoist temple in Chengdu, acclaimed as the "Number One Taoist Temple in Western Sichuan." Legend has it that the temple was originally built during the reign of King Zhao of Zhou, with deep ties to the legend of Laozi riding a green ox through the Hangu Pass. The existing structures mainly date back to the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty. The Three Pure Ones Hall, Hunyuan Hall, and the Octagonal Bagua Pavilion are arranged in sequence, among which the octagonal Bagua Pavilion, adorned with intricate carvings and grand architecture, stands as the iconic structure of Qingyang Palace. The temple houses the Qing Dynasty carved wooden blocks of the "Daozang Jiyao," a treasure of Taoist culture. With continuous incense offerings and ancient trees casting dense shade, it offers a serene retreat for introspection and experiencing Taoist culture amidst the bustling city.
