Leshan Giant Buddha

The Leshan Giant Buddha is the largest stone-carved seated Maitreya Buddha in the world, located at Lingyun Road in Shizhong District, Leshan City. Carved during the Tang Dynasty's Kaiyuan era and completed after 90 years, it stands 71 meters tall at the confluence of the Minjiang River, Qingyi River, and Dadu River. Visitors can walk down the Nine-turn Staircase to view the Buddha's feet up close or take a boat to admire its full silhouette from afar. The surrounding area includes Lingyun Temple, Wuyou Temple, and Mahao Grotto Tombs, combining rock carvings, Buddhism, and natural landscapes.
