Mount Emei

Mount Emei is one of China's four famous Buddhist mountains and a UNESCO World Heritage site encompassing both cultural and natural heritage. Located in Huangwan Town, Emei City, Leshan, its main peak, Wanfoding, reaches an altitude of 3,099 meters and is renowned for its 'majesty, beauty, mysticism, and wonder.' The 'Four Great Wonders'—golden summit sea of clouds, Buddha's halo, sacred light, and sunrise—are legendary. The monumental statue of Ten Directions Samantabhadra stands solemn and majestic; temples such as Bao Guo Temple, Fu Hu Temple, Qing Yin Ge, and Wan Nian Temple are scattered along the mountain. Inside Wan Nian Temple rests a bronze statue of Samantabhadra riding an elephant from the Northern Song Dynasty. The mountain is rich in rare flora and fauna, including macaques and Davidia trees. It offers both spiritual pilgrimage and opportunities for hiking and summer retreat.
