Huanglong Scenic and Historic Area

The Huanglong Scenic and Historic Area is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site and a UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Reserve, renowned worldwide for its rare alpine travertine formations. It is famously known as the "Paradise on Earth." The scenic area is celebrated for its four wonders: colorful pools, snow-capped mountains, deep gorges, and dense forests. Thousands of travertine pools are layered one upon another, displaying vibrant colors, resembling a golden dragon winding through snowy mountains and deep valleys. Attractions such as Huanglong Temple, Wuhua Pool, Zhenyan Pool, and Jinsha Pudì (Golden Sand铺地) are breathtaking. Located at a high altitude (3,100–3,900 meters), it is an ideal destination for photography, geological research, and high-altitude sightseeing, and is often paired with Jiuzhaigou as "Huanglong-Jiuzhai, a Paradise on Earth."
