From Chengdu, heading westward lies a land lifted by snow-capped mountains, lakes, and prayer flags, commonly known as Western Sichuan—from the waters of Abazhou, to the snowy peaks of Ganzi, and on to the alpine lakes of Liangshan, this is a magnificent arc stretching gradually from north to south.
