Meishan

Meishan lies to the southwest of Chengdu. Historically part of Meizhou, it is famous for the Three Su (Su Shi, Su Xun, and Su Zhe), as well as its pickled vegetables, bamboo weaving, Wahushan Mountain, and Heilongtan Lake. Unlike bustling Chengdu or spiritually charged Leshan, Meishan feels more like a book: read Song poetry at the Three Su Temple, admire panoramic views from the Dongpo Pavilion by Dongpo Lake, learn about health and longevity on Pengzu Mountain, and count waterfalls atop Wahushan. Visiting Meishan doesn’t require rushing from one attraction to another—just follow the rhythm of 'half a day of culture, half a day of mountains, half a day of water': morning at the ancestral halls, midday at a Dongpo banquet, afternoon exploring table mountains or bamboo forests, and evening strolling along the riverside streets while taking a boat ride.
